Dawdling down the Danube.

Wendy constantly plans bike trips. Some call it daydreaming, some prevarication, for me it was fortuitous. Wendy and her boss were planning the next few years projects when it became apparent that there really wasn’t much for her to do in May and  June of 2016.

He suggested that it would be an opportune time for her to take some holidays.

She went home, rang me and on Saturdaty we head off for two months cycling from Constance to Budapest with a small detour to Salzburg.

Six days and counting.

The bed on the left contains my home and contents for the next two months only thing missing is the bike. It is already boxed and waiting for me in Brisbane. I take more than that when I go to Orange for a week.

Aah yes, it’s all coming back. Just over 40 years ago my personal private translator took me under her wing and taught me all the German I know. (Well apart from colonel Klink.)

This pc’s auto correct and my German spelling are not seeing eye to eye, so let’s see if we can just go with phonetics.

De sonner scheint so schone. That sorts out the small talk.

Vo est dover  ?  Just in case I have a desperate need for spoken English.

Kernen Ve heir langen bitte ?  Accommodation under control.

Nein, inch nicht sprechen ze deutche arber mein Frau est eine Lerner und sprechen ze Deutche zehr gut. This is handy but I really need to learn an adjunct to that sentence. Along the lines of ” unfortunately she is in Port Macquarie, this is my daughter and she doesn’t speak German either."

That along with zwei  biere bitte should have me covered for most of the next two months.
