Khyle of Lochalsh to Lochcarron, Scotland
24th May 2018, 10°-19°

Our first day on the road, the plan is to follow the eastern shore of Loch Carron up and around to Lochcarron.

I probably should have said up and down as the road would go up and over the headlands between each bay and then descend down into the next little village nestled on the water and then up & over again.

Much excitement at Duirinish, a pretty little village with our first ( & only ) sighting of a mob of highland cattle.

At the top of the next hill we stopped for morning tea near the intersection where Wendy and I were supposed to rendevous. Just prior t this we had opted to not go down to Plockton as I wasn't up to the climb back up.

We stopped for lunch at Attadale railway station, almost directly opposite Lochcarron on the other side of the lock. Three quarters of the days ride done and we just had to skirt around the head of the lock and we were home for the night.

Wendy had forgotten to mention to me that in getting around the head of the loch we had a small mountain to climb with the road rising up at 14%, which, with a loaded touring bike, is practically vertical. I was rescued by a large dutchman who, with his girlfriend, was travelling around Scotland in a converted Land Rover Ambulance.
