Late afternoon, the train pulled into the station at Kyle of Lochalsh. Looking out at the throng of people on the platform I was totally gobsmacked to see Wendy standing on the platform with a big cheeky grin on her face. Turns out she had a couple of very cold, very wet days getting back up from the Isle of Mull and having read my description of where I was staying for the next two nights she decided that that sounded better than her soggy tent and had rung up and booked into the same place.

She had turned off her Eperb so no-one would know where she was and hence couldn't warn me of her impending arrival. I off-loaded the bike and Ortliebs and as we started to walk along the platform we noted my front tire was flat. How lucky was I that morning, if that had happened on the way to the station I could well have missed the train.

When I assembled my bike at Geraldines I found that I had left my water bottles at home, so we went into the local hardware store and managed to buy a couple of green WW2 edition water bottles. We also managed to get a number of items we needed, maybe a puncture kit. The next day we fixed my tire and I went for a ride around town and over the Skye bridge to Skye.

The Isle of Skye is at the bottom of the picture at left, the impressive Skye Bridge, built in 1995, joins Skye to the mainland at Kyle. Our digs for the next two nights are at the very top of the picture about one Km from the dock and train station..
