May 2016, Wendy & Neil flew from Brisbane to Zurich via Dubai. A couple of days to re-assemble the bikes and acclimatise and then we headed by train to Constance where we met up with Kimberley, Nick and young son John who had flown in from Berlin. The five of us rode together for 7 days down the Danube to Ulm from where they had a horrendous trip back to Berlin and we had a comfortable train trip to Ingolstadt to try and get ahead of the extremely wet weather coming in from the West. Wise decision as it turned out.

We continued down the river to Linz, where we detoured down to Salzburg to check out some mountains. We rode out to Berchesgarten & Konigsee, Zell am See and back to Bad Reichenall. At this point Google maps multi had had enough and we move to the second map up above. We then caught a train across Salzburg to SeeKirchen thence down to Hallstadt. Beautiful country but cold and damp which exacerbated Wendy's condition and we aborted and headed back to Linz and put Wendy to bed for a few days. A few days later much of this countryside was flooded. Beginning at the river Neckar, the Danube, Rhine, Seine and their tributaries were highly affected by high water and flooding along their banks. At least 21 people died in the floods.

From Linz we rode to Vienna, a few days there and then back on the bikes and, following the deteriorating tracks, followed the river down to Budapest. Four very pleasant days there and then we packed our bikes and headed for the airport, Dubai and Brisbane.
