Up early and into town for some photographs.
Later on we decided to goto the Ic e Cave. According to tourist info the best way to reach the Dachstein Mountain Visitor Center from Hallstatt is the local Postbus 543. You can catch this bus/shuttle van at the main Hallstatt Bus Station. However we did not do this, we had seen the sign to the Visitor centre on our way into town yesterday and decided we would ride out there.
It was only a short ride to the turnoff, however it was a very steep climb up into the foothills and as we were wearing warm clothes for the Ice cave we were lathered in sweat when we arrived. Not good when going into an ice cave. We disappeared into the amenities and did our best to dry off under the hand driers before getting on the cable car for the ride up to the cave.
The cablecar took us 2460 feet up the mountain, followed by a 20 minute walk to get to the entrance to the cave. The tour was cold but interesting
After the tour, we looked at the weather coming in and decided that we would , once more, not be able to see anything from the higher stations so we returned to the visitor centre for some food and then back to our camp.
Wendy went to bed and went back into town for some more photos.
