This was a beautiful day of riding. In the upper reaches of the Danube some of the valleys are not wide enough to allow a path alongside the river and this was the case early today so we had to go up and over a small hill of 200m before following the river for 30kms down to Sigmaringen. We rode through lush green valleys beside the gentle stream ( the Danube) with towering rock cliffs topped with forts till we reached Beuron where we stopped for morning tea. After the small boy had let off some steam we remounted and headed on down through more of the same. We planned to stop for lunch at Neumuhle but it was packed so we pushed on and stopped at the next pub. It was also very busy but we found a table, outside of the sevice area, but who cares it was a seat, just had to carry our food 10 metres.
After lunch we rode on into Sigmaringen, a town dominated by its impressive castle, for our first rest day.
