Chinon to Saumur, France
15th July 2018

Today we ride the 40kms Samur, we left the river flats and headed up into the hills, a rude shock after the last few days of flat riding. First-up we are heading for Abbey Royale de Fontevraud, founded in 1101. Unfortunately we can't spend much time here as the final of the World Cup is to be played out this afternoon and we need to be in Saumur to watch it.

We head on to the castle at Saumur, explore it for a hour or so then down a very steep hill into the town, crossed over to another island camping area, setup our tents and then repaired to the camping area bar and settled down to watch the game.

France won and the car horns didn't stop blowing until the early hours of the morning.
